I think that he wasnt attracted to men in the traditional way and he wasnt bisexual but was instead in a romantic non sexual relationship with cas. I dont think he ever accepts this for himself but it explains his lack of female love interests when cas is introduced (also because of insane fans that hated every woman introduced as a possible love interest). I think he was in love with cas but not into him sexually. There is nothing wrong with this version the fans believe is canon. If cas the angel was in a female form most of the show it wouldve been sexual. Cas was 100% in love with dean like thats not only canon but obvious but i think the actual proper romance was one sided or platonic to dean because he didnt realise what it was he was feeling towards cas because he wasnt raised that way and he has primarily been attracted to women his whole life. Also just because he is attracted to the occasional man doesnt mean hes bisexual. Its definitely case specific because sexuality is a spectrum not a binary set of instructions and its different for everyone.
